The availability of Acer Iconia Tab A501 has been confirmed by AT&T. In their latest announcement AT&T have reported that an HSPA+ enabled variant of the Honeycomb slate Acer Iconia Tab A501 will be launched in the market soon. The tablet will be a Tegra 2 based tablet and will be entering the market on 18th of September. If you are thinking of getting the Acer Iconia Tab A501 you will have to pat $330 along with a fresh, 2-year data contract, or if you don’t want a contract, then you could get a contract free version for $480 having memory of 16GB. Apart from this the tablet is pretty much like the Iconia Tab A500 that we saw earlier in the year. The Acer Iconia Tab A501 will offer you a 10.1 in display having native resolution of 1280 x 800 display, Wi-Fi b/g/n and HDMI connectivity, together with a 2 MP front-facing camera and Bluetooth. Acer T230H – touch screen computer panel
Acer T230H is a 24 inch touch screen computer monitor which costs $360. Ergonomic options like tilt, swivel and height adjustment are supported. We were really excited with all these features but performance wise, the panel was quite disappointing. Picture quality was miles behind that of Samsung SyncMaster XL2370 (which is the best we have seen till now in our labs) in games and movies. We won’t recommend you this monitor if need one just to surf the Web and type office documents. It does support a touch screen interface but it can be used only in Windows 7. But the screen cannot be tilted all the way to face the wall and hence your hands will get fatigued easily. The performance is below par and hence we won’t recommend this panel. The thickness of the Acer T230H is 1.6 inches but if you take in to account the ventilation system and connection options, the thickness increases to three inches. Width of the panel is 22.3 inches. The bezel is 1.1 inches on the sides. There is a glossy  [...]

Acer D240H – With memory card reader
Acer D240H has a lot in common with H243H. There are a couple of differences in feature set and prices but the designs have uncanny resemblance. D240H comes with 2 USB ports, SD card reader and Compact Flash reader. All these are absent on the H243H. Both the panels have HDMI, VGA and DVI ports and along with that, there are cables for the corresponding ports. There are built in speakers which are good for movies and games. Cost of D240H is $290 which is $50 more than H243H. We don’t agree with the $50 price difference especially when all the extras you get are card readers and USB ports. Performance of this panel is not as good as Samsung SyncMaster XL2370 but it is the same as H233H and H243H. We will recommend you this monitor if you are looking for a bit screen along with some bells and whistles. The height of the screen is not adjustable and neither can you rotate the screen or pivot it. In terms of ergonomics, you get just a capability to tilt the screen back by 15 degrees. Connectivity  [...]

Acer H243H review – Lots of connection options
Acer H243H is a bigger sibling of the H233H which we reviewed earlier. Both these panels are quite similar but there are a few changes in the design and price too so we thought of writing a separate review for this panel. This monitor will put you back by $240 where as the 23 incher costs $209. Both these monitors come with HDMI, VGA and DVI ports and they also come bundled with their respective cables. We really hope other vendors too start following the suit for providing the cables. Both the panels come with built in speakers which give decent performance for movies and games. All these characteristics are common to both these monitors but the 24 inch panel is better than the smaller display when it comes to performance. This is due to its low black level. Just like we did for the H233H, we will recommend this to you as a cheaper alternative to the Samsung SyncMaster XL2370 but be wary of the fact both these monitors are behind Samsung when it comes to performance. Acer H243H’s  [...]

Acer H233H monitor – low on cost, high on performance
Acer H233H is a 23 inch computer monitor which is inexpensive and yet performs impressively. Some of you might stop reading the review here and rush to the store to buy the monitor. But for those who are still reading, this monitor comes with all three HDMI, VGA and DVI ports. There respective cables are also included in the bundle which is quite rarely seen. The monitor comes with built in speakers which also give good sound quality in movies and games. We would recommend you this panel as an alternative to the more expensive Samsung SyncMaster XL2370. But when you’d compare both the monitors head to head, the Samsung panel is much better in performance. The height of this monitor is not adjustable and there is no pivot or screen rotation option either. Regarding ergonomics, all you get is 15 inch back tilt capability. You can connect the Acer H233H monitor through VGA, DVI or HDMI port. The manufacturer also gives all three connection cables and this is rarely seen  [...]

Acer S243HL Review – Falters in performance
We tested the Samsung SyncMaster XL2370 some time ago and it instantly became our favorite due to the glamorous, think looks and LED based technology. Acer S243HL is a 24 inch computer screen and it has a lot in common with the Samsung product. Both are ultra thin, have LED backlighting and cost $300. Unfortunately this is not the case in performance as Samsung is much ahead of Acer’s monitor. The latter’s contrast ratio is the worst we have ever seen in the competition. The black levels are high and hence we yearn for better color accuracy. Finally, it comes with a lacks a DVI connection so you will have to invest in a separate DVI to HDMI for computer connections. The panel is aesthetically pleasing but the performance is disappointing. Acer S243HL is 0.6 inches deep and has width of 22.4 inches. The dimensions are pretty much similar to the aforementioned Samsung panel. The bezel of the screen is 0.7 inch big on all the side and the display comes with matte frosty finish. The  [...]

Acer G24 – TN+Film panel
Acer G24 is a computer panel which costs about $399 but the estimated street price is $359. This is a game centric monitor panel and colors look great on the TN+Film display. The high speed games were accurate and responsive on this panel. Competitor for this panel is the Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP which comes at a price of $600. The Dell product is an S-PVA panel, having lower black level and lots of connections. But the Acer panel wins when it comes to game performance, but this display isn’t suited for anything other than games. Lack of height adjustment limits viewing angle flexibilities which we think is unforgiving. If you are a gaming enthusiasts, we would recommend you the Acer G24 but if you are looking for an all round performance, Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP is our best bet. Footstand and ergonomic options rating (2/10) Acer G24 has a 25 degrees tilting ability but other than that there is no ergonomic feature. There is no  [...]

Acer H235H – Good performance
Acer H235H costs $240 and this 23 inch computer monitor comes with HDMI, VGA and DVI connectivity options. It also has built in speakers and its OSD is user friendly. Overall performance was good but in movies and games, the colors looked washed out. For the price, the quality will do but our best bet in this price range is Asus VH236H which has the same features, better performance and costs less than the H235H. If you are willing to spend a little more, we will recommend you the $285 Samsung SyncMaster P2370 which also has the same performance but is sexier in looks. However, the Samsung doesn’t offer you the same options of connectivity. Footstand and ergonomic options rating (6/10) Footstand of this monitor is 7 inches in diameter. We thought the stand was a bit narrow because the display wobbles a lot when knocked from the sides. Acer H235H lacks ergonomic options, there is no pivot mode or screen rotation. You cannot adjust  [...]
