Samsung SyncMaster T27A950 – comes with a lot of features but pricey too
Samsung SyncMaster T27A950 is a 27 inches computer monitor and it simply unique and gorgeous. The stand of this unit is different from others; it is a flat stand which spans the entire length of this panel. Panel is 24.5 inches in width, 7.3 inches in depth, and 20.3 inches in width. Display is attached to right side of footstand and distance from screen’s bottom to desktop is about 3.6 inches. The bezel is razor thin and it is 0.4 inch in width on sides. This makes the bezel the thinnest ever we have seen on a computer monitor. The panel is quite thin at just 0.25 inch and this also makes it a very thin panel. Samsung SyncMaster T27A950 tilts back by 20 degrees and there isn’t any ergonomic option other than that. Look of this display is all metallic chrome on the panel’s back and it accentuates the smooth finish of the monitor. There aren’t any connections, ports or screw holes for VESA and hence the aesthetics aren’t ruined at all. Base stand of the Samsung  [...]

Samsung SyncMaster S27A850D – Awesome performance
Samsung SyncMaster S27A850D is 27 inches computer monitor made for the professional graphic artists. It is a monitor having a resolution of 2560x1,440 pixels and this is also the first computer panel from this manufacturer to have PLS or Plane Line Switching technology inside. This is not the same as IPS in In-Plane Switching that you see in a lot of monitors out there. Samsung says that PLS technology can you give you higher brightness at lower power consumption. The corners of the Samsung SyncMaster S27A850D are quite sharp and the sleek aesthetic look is quite attractive. There is LED lighting on the panel and it is 25.2 inches in width and the depth is less than one inch. However, if you consider the section on the back which contains power adapter port, single DisplayPort, and two DVI ports, then the width increases to one inch more. On the left side, there are three USB 3.0 down stream, one USB 2.0 up stream, headphone jack, and audio in ports. These ports are  [...]

Samsung PN59D7000 – Light on analog connectivity
Samsung PN59D7000 is a bit light on the analog connectivity front. The manufacturer has put in break out cables if you need anything. I would have loved headphone jack too. There are three USB ports and you will one lose one if you are using a Wi-Fi dongle or if you are streaming media USB through media port. While testing, I saw that the initial picture quality on the Samsung PN59D7000 was the same as that on the PND8000. The PN59D7000 could produce very deep blacks but it wasn’t very good at resolving the full shadow detail and it also couldn’t reproduce the 1080p/24 content when I calibrated it for the deep blacks. Post calibration, the color was looking superb and the 3D picture quality too was excellent. Apart from that, this TV can beat any LCD TV in terms of off angle viewing and uniformity. I then tested the Samsung PN59D7000 in its movie preset and found that it was pretty accurate but it was a bit too red with crushed shadow detail and too dark gamma.  [...]

Samsung PND7000 – Awesome picture quality
Samsung PND7000 is a TV having one of the best picture quality that you’d ever get to see in a plasma TV. It is made for videophiles who can’t compromise on video quality and who are willing to spend big for a lot of eye candy. Wi-Fi is built-in to this TV just like the D6500 and D8000 plasmas from this manufacturer. You won’t have to go through the hassle of buying a separate USB dongle for Wi-Fi for $80. Samsung PND7000 doesn’t have the Yahoo widget engine that we saw on the D8000 TV sets. Apart from that, the selection of streaming content and applications is as good as other TVs in the market. There is just one missing link – Amazon Instant which you will get on LG, Panasonic, and Sony TVs. The Smart Hub on the Samsung PND7000 is the same as that on UND6400 and on the Samsung Blu-ray players. The interface was quite crowded. The Your Video and Search functions are ambitious but they aren’t incorporated in the apps like Hulu Plus and Netflix. You just  [...]

Samsung PN63C8000 – Amongst the best
Before this, I got the Panasonic TC-PVT25 in my labs for testing and I had been looking forward to comparing it with Samsung flagship plasma 3D compatible HDTV. I must say that this is the only TV which can come close to beating the Panasonic’s product. The Samsung PN63C8000 is an excellent TV and is one of the best plasmas I have tested to date in my labs, if not the best. The only shortcoming of this TV, as compared to the Panasonic product is that the PN63C8000 cannot reproduce blacks as well. But the Samsung panel is better in other areas like overall color reproduction, video processing and bright room performance. The Samsung panel will cost you less and the feature set and style will certainly turn heads but I expected the manufacturer to give 3D glasses included in the package. The VT25 is a better performer by a very small margin but a lot of videophiles will be pleased with the PN63C8000’s picture quality. Samsung PN63C8000 belongs  [...]

Samsung UN46C6500 – Impressively Stunning
If you love TV watching, then the Samsung UN46C6500 is just what the doctor ordered for you. The Samsung UN46C6500 is a 46 in TV which you can not stop watching, the beauty of the TV could be estimated from the fact that even when the TV is off, its one of the finest and the most attractive TV in the market. The Samsung UN46C6500 is about an inch thick and trimmed with a thin aluminum bezel, this means that the 6500 is almost all screen and nothing else. Turning on the TV gives bright image which even is sufficient for even some of the brightest room in the market. The color balance of the Samsung UN46C6500 wasn’t all that great, but still was impressive. The TV has impressively snappy menus, which looks equally as good as the set, and hence makes it easy for you to navigate sufficiently connected TV apps. The TV  [...]

Samsung UN46D8000 – Great aesthetics
Samsung UN46D8000 is an LED based LCD TV and it seems that the manufacturer made it with one particular goal in mind – to make the TV disappear when turned on and only leave the picture to be seen. The end result is a spectacular success in terms of design and the look will definitely attract anyone’s attention. The price of this TV is a bit high but fashion enthusiasts won’t mind breaking the bank over it. The dimensions of the Samsung UN46D8000 are quite compact but still it has managed to put in a lot of features as compared to other TVs that I have seen to date. The design does come at a compromise of quality. The color uniformity and brightness is nowhere close to what the best TVs have to offer. You will have to choose between quality and design here. I think that if someone can afford to spend big on a TV, he should get good quality too but for now, he won’t get both. Picture of the Samsung UN46D8000 can be best described in one  [...]

Samsung will soon announce 3D VOD or video on demand service in Korea. This service will be debuting along with Dreamworks film studio. It offers 3D films, music videos and movie trailers. Children’s content too is included. Users can access the service through Samsung Apps, it is a market place which is available on some Samsung TVs. Samsung Smart TVs to have QWERTY flip remote
Entering text through a standard TV remove is a really awful experience and this has really become a serious problem now because Internet is being widely used on TVs now. Hence TV makers are working really hard to solve this issue. A good alternative for this would be to give free app having QWERTY keyboard but it is available only for Android and iOS devices. Samsung is trying hard and has come up with a flip QWERTY keyboard juts like the one from Vizio. The clicker has the complete set of character and number keys for their new Smart TVs. There are other features worth noting on the TV like directional pad, monochrome LCD screen, teletext keys, and a cool looking brushed metal body. On the opposite side, there are conventional controls for channel and volume rockers and also buttons for recording video and play it back. The bundled QWERTY remote  [...]
