Nikon announces Coolpix S1100pj projector cam along with USB projection

We won’t say that we didn’t know this was coming because there were lots of rumors going on in the market about this. Nikon has just announced two new products – Coolpix S1100pj and S5100. The former is a successor to the Coolpix S1000pj projector-cam; it is now sleeker and thinner. The projector too is brighter at 14 lumens and it can beam pictures from a laptop through USB. The company has simplified the control scheme; there is a three inch LCD with 460,000 dots which has a touchscreen interface. You can also enable a wild paint mode of telestrator style, it allows you to draw on top of the projected images, real time. Speaking of the camera, the specs are bumped up to provide some thing extra over its predecessor. You get a 14 megapixel sensor and you can also record movies at resolution of 720p. The sensitivity can go as high as ISO 6400. There is also a 28-140mm 5x optical zoom along with a 5 way stabilizer. The camera can detect faces, blinks and smiles. The best part about it is the low price. The cost has been dropped from $349 to $100 and this device is a good choice if you are looking for a high end camera. We haven’t got the camera yet in our labs for testing so we don’t know what quality it has to offer. But we hope the manufacturer offers this gadget with a wide choice for the colors.

Coolpix S1100pj

Coolpix S5100 is not that interesting, it belongs to somewhere between the S4000 and S6000. There is 12.1 megapixel sensor having a ISO 3200 options and there is also a 720p move mode. For zooming in, there is the 5x optical zoom having a four way image stabilization. For tweaking the exposure and shutter speed, you get a handy tripod detection function.
