Study says TVs can kill
Texas Southwestern Medical Center, a university in Dallas says that hanging TVs on the walls are dangerous for Kids. There are chances that unstable TV sets can injure kids or even kill them. The study further says that around 2,600 children, below the age of five, were treated in emergency room for injuries some time ago. The university students studied some 26 cases at Children’s Medical Center Dallas and found that nine of them needed hospitalization where as 14 had head injuries. You might think that 26 cases is a negligible amount but it does mean a lot to the children’s parents. The university students further interviewed the parents and they said they didn’t realize that hanging TVs were so dangerous. About eight five percent of them were oblivious about the hazards of suspended TVs.

These dangers are not present in CRT TV sets since they are kept of TV trolleys. We certainly won’t recommend you to dump the new LCD and Plasma TVs for old CRT TVs. But what we can recommend you to do is strap the panels securely on the wall if you are hanging them. You can also train your kids not to kick, shove, jostle, bump or disturb the TV in any other possible way. Training your kids might be a bit hard but you can certainly give it a try and keep yourself tension free. TVs are quite heavy and hanging them on the wall is a bit more dangerous than what you actually think. We have seen a lot of TVs put up on a wall and this is largely done to save the space in your house. Hanging TVs on the wall also makes the panel look really cool. Swiveling is better if the panel is hung up on the wall and the viewing angles here are much better too. We would heavily recommend you to take care if you are putting up a TV on the wall.
